HTC J Butterfly: Still kicking in 2024?
This variant of the HTC Deluxe from 2012 was released exclusively in Japan. This device was considered as HTC’s flagship entry for that year, and I must say — even for today, it’s usable to an extent.
Pros:
Gorgeous 1080p Super LCD3 display with 441 ppi which was unheard at the time
Loud, clear speakers tweaked by Beats Audio
HTC Sense UI 5 is as smooth as ever (even today)
Corning Gorilla Glass 2 (pretty durable)
4G LTE
Slim and rigid body
The Snapdragon 600 chipset debuted on this device
Modern apps such as FB, TikTok, Chrome still works fine
Cons:
Non-removable battery
Measly 2,020mAh capacity
Android updates are a pain to do because of Japan’s AU network restrictions
Awkward power button placement
Verdict:
This phone is sure old, but the fact that I have one in perfect working condition is a testament to HTC’s legacy as one of the formidable options on the other side of the river during their peak.
